Some More Wacky Ideas.....What Are You Guys Doing?

OK, I know all about the "Diesel In A Tracker" conversion, and a couple others out there, but let's start venturing into the realm of the truly bizarre! (well, maybe not that bad, after all, I'm the guy who suggested the diesel K-car!)  Any one ever done, heard of, or even thought of: VW diesel into one of the older Kia Sportages? They're about the same size as a Tracker, and you can get one with 2 wheel drive.  Then, this is one of those thing you can tell people you did it just to say you did it - How about a VW diesel into an early to mid 80's Ford mid-size, like a Fairmont? Weight wise, they're pretty light, and parts are pretty easy to get.
What sort of conversions have you guys been doing or toying with?
Kinda leaning towards something a little on the old side, as here in NY, anything over 25 years old is emmissions exempt. Somehow I think DMV would really bust my chops if I tried to dieselize anything new, as NY is probably one of the most non-friendly diesel states around!

I think it would be sweet to build a 32 ford rat-rod, with either 1.9 TDI. or IDI in it (built to the hilt of course)
1990 VW jetta 1.6 td, 2.5" exhaust, no muffler, governor mod 2010 edition, K&N filter. and now 66 hp and 136 ftlbs.
project 1.6 liter in the works  :)

You don't rev a VW diesel, you increase the clatter.
