Roller carrier contacted injector pump housing...Help!
« on: December 28, 2007, 09:26:25 pm »
I am rebuilding a TDI injector pump in a 1996 Passat TDI.

I just noticed that the roller carrier has slightly contacted the pump housing

Less than .001  but I can feel it

Pump mainshaft does not appear to have any runout and bushings look good

Wondering how this happened and if it is OK to use the housing.

Any help would be appreciated.

correct me if I'm wrong but I think thats normal.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

Our IDI had pretty bad wear on the housing and ran fine. It's not a sealing surface so it's not a big deal. Looks like someone had the pump rebuilt because that is only caused by bushing play.
