Disconect EGR on a TDI???

I have changed the seting to slow the cycle of the egr, I understand if i plug the vacume line to the egr it will set a code.   what sets of this code,maybe there is a way to modifiy and trick the computer.  Is this safe to do??  hope someone knows something,please respond, thanks Clayton.

i think you need a chip to do an egr delete correctly
mine is blocked on my daily 98 tdi driver,and i have an eternal ck. eng. light
look around for some thing called an epsilonian device on freds page
they are homemade and you may be able to find someone there that can "find" you one
i made a solid copper gasket to block the egr pipe that connects to the intake
i live with the light,and just check my codes every few months with the vag com to be sure no new codes are active

It depends on the year. My 95 has the EGR removed, and although it logs a code it doesn't display a CEL so I just ignore it. It makes no difference to the way it runs.

I think this may be a 1Z thing, so 94-96. Maybe someone can confirm?
