Swain Tech group buy

I have been playing e-mail tag with swain tech about the group buy.  After the inital e-mail, where they said they would do it if we sent in 1000 worth of parts, they added some more.

"It is not a nuisance to do the work if they come in from individuals, but at
the same time it does not represent a true group buy.

If we cannot gain any efficiencies, it does not make sense to extend a
discount.  We have many forums, owners groups and similar groups of
enthusiast who send us work on a regular basis.  They do not get a discount
just because they are part of a common group.  As I originally explained,
there are a few times where a group is buying everything from one vendor
such as a down pipe.  That vendor ships everything to us and we receive it
all at once.  The person who puts the group buy creates a list as where the
parts will be shipped and that person takes care of payment.

In that type of situation it is a true group buy and some efficiencies can
be gained when we process the parts and in those rare situations we offer a
discount.  If you have that type of situation I can consider a discount.  If
you do not have a true group buy I cannot extend a discount.  It does not
mean it is a nuisance to do the work, nor does it warrant a discount.

Richard"

So it looks like everything gets shipped in in one box, or there is no discount.  I don't know if that approach will work in our situation.

Perhaps if some of you live close enough to each other it could still work.

What do you think.

Where in Maine do you live ;) thats my take... I will have a "group buy" box almost on my own. The only problem is shipping crank, rods, pistons, heads, ETC can get very expensive in the mail. More than a general 10percent will account for sometimes. Maybe you could talk them into 15 percent?
