Locking Tools for TB change?

I plan on changing the timing belt on our Golf TDI, engine code AGR.
Iīm making my own tools 'cause I canīt find a shop that sells them here in Sweden  :evil:
 I already have made a locking tool for the camshaft, so thatīs sorted.

Whatīs the diameter of the locking pin for the IP? And how long does it need to be?

Just use drill bit, piece of round stock.  I usually find some thing that fits.  People get to crazy about this.

I know, some people thinks it like brain surgery  :roll:
You donīt happen to know the diam of the drill you use? Just to be sure I have something to lock it with when I start removing things, on a AGR the coolant reservoir, PS-reservoir, IC-piping and the fuel hoses are on the timing belt side...Not to mention you have to remove a engine mount :lol:

Thanks, Iīve already changed the TB.
* I used a 6mm drill bit for the IP
* a 4mm thick angle iron (aluminium actually) for the cam
* nothing for the crank.

I didnīt have anything to pull the sprocket with so I drilled a hole in the plastic rear TB cover and used a punch and a hammer to get it off the cam.
Older VWīs has that hole to begin with, the plastic cover is from A4-body and up.

it wont help now,but try this next time
i used to use a 7/16 deep 1/4 drive craftsman socket,it worked great on my old 1.6's,and now my tdi-m
i do have the correct tool though
try goin thru a stack of sockets and see what works
actually do they have sears craftsman tools overseas? :oops:
