Can I turn this motor ALH in to a mTDI?
If so, will my 1.6l TD pump be usable to turn in to a mTDI pump with the use of its pump? (From the sound of the FAQ yes)

Also, what's the worst senerio for the valves and head with this engine? what kind of $$ to fix?

When I was looking for an engine to see if it would be cheaper to buy or rebuild mine, I found a low mile ALH for $2k. I don't know that I'd pay $1500 for a broken one with unknown problems. Valves for the AHU were somewhere around $18. To get my whole head rebuilt with all new parts, not knowing my AAZ parts would work, I was quoted $450, but that was all valves guides lifters, springs, retainers, everything except the cam. If the piston(s) are damaged, add hundreds more.

That is my worry, costs of pistons and rebuilding the head. With him saying that it is turning ok though, it makes me wonder how bad the valves are...
1500 is a little steep, what would you pay for it?

I'd offer $1000, maybe $1200 tops, but that's me. You may well get away without spending much, but you never know. It all comes down to what risk you are willing to take.
