« on: January 16, 2008, 10:27:32 am »
i want to put a bigger plunger head in my pump but not sure whats all involved.  i see on dieselvw.com they have heads for sale but the bigger plungers all say for TDI motors.  i have an old idi pump will one of those work in there or is there more to it?  looking for anyone who has been in this situation before and needing guidance..  thanks!

pretty easy to change the pump head & plunger.
well its easy wen you know how, id practice taking yours apart and building it again b4 you end up snapping the plunger like i did the first time

i've taken 3 pumps apart to be resealed so that part isn't a problem, i was wondering if the 1.9tdi plunger heads were compatible with the 1.6 td pump.... but as i've been reading in the forums i think i've found what i've needed and that they are interchangable.

No the TDI wont work.
The pump heads on the site you are referring to are for the 1.9 AAZ idi pump and will work.

I think some will work. It depends on the plunger foot and if it fits into the camplate. I believe Tintin said some may fit but it is a tight fit while others are completely mismatched.

ok......so only the AAZ idi pump heads will fit the 1.6idi pumps......i should have specified before.  now what about if i want to use the 1.9 cam plate? wont the plunger from the 1.9idi fit then?

I am fairly certain the AAZ 1.9 IDI pump head will fit with either the 1.6 camplate or the 1.9 IDI camplate. I have a 1.9IDI camplate and it is compatible with either the 1.6 or the 1.9 IDI head. It's when you want to use the TDI pump head with a 1.6 or 1.9 IDI camplate that you might run into problems.
