how much for a set of shims for eight injectors? 1.6L single spring
i dont have a pop tester yet, however, so i am only "tire kicking" untill i could find one to use / borrow in my area.
i would be re-building and installing new nozles- lapping the mating surfaces, then matchium up the injectors to within 5 bar / 75 psi.

the smallest amount of shims that you can get in on this deal is a 5count of 24 different shims is about 70bucks + shipping! so for 8 injectors you will have alot left over?

ok guys shims can be bought in quanities! Thanks to "saurkraut" he found a reputal source for them! the catch is the more we buy the cheaper they are a piece! so saurkraut is going to post the different price ranges after this entry!
the 40 piece of each size looks to be the best bargan? or there is the corporate discount range? saurkraut will handel the ordering and i will handel the distrabution of everyones orders! i think some will come mixed up and will need to be measured and sorted? so lets see if this works well and i think we an get other products also? but first the shims! to get at the 40pc.with more people we can even split it to smaller to a 5count per person witch will be around 70bucks per person for 120 shims! we will let this add run for a while? send me a P.M. of your address and phonee# so i have shipping info. on who is ordering! Thanks and i'll will return mine!
DEAD LINE DATE

BTW, there was some earlier discussion about the shims in standard 1.5/1.6 injectors vs. the shims in an AAZ injector.
Finally took some pictures... the AAZ injector is at the top:

As you can see... the dual-spring shims are quite different in size.... sigh.

Vince,
what is the O.D. of the small shim?
what is the I.D. of the big shim?
it's hard to tell in the pic.!
reason is the shims i got from my injector buying venture had alot of different I.D. and the center hole is not critical as long as there is enough for the spring to rest on! i got alot of shims with different center holes!
but does the shims on the aaz one fits over the other inside the housing sits the same place as the single spring injector? will the single spring shim fit inside the aaz larger shim?
thanks Duane

I didn't mike em, and they are back in the engine (hoping to finally turn the key tomorrow!) but they are exactly the right side to go into specific drillings in the housing... in other words, they are an exact fit, so the single spring shim will not work, nor would either of the other two work in a single spring housing.

The smaller AAZ shim looks similar th the small TDI shim to me, and the 1.6 shim looks similar to the larger TDI shim.

TDI injector inner shim diameter appx 1.15mm, small outer 2.8mm, large outer 4mm.

that does make sence that they would have a spot machined to keep the centered in the housing well thanks that clears that up for me!

Do either of the TD injectors have the pin like the TDI one? If not then I don't see where the inner diameter would matter at all, and the outer diameter shouldn't be as critical as the shim can't keep the spring centered.

the single spring shim i have some in my collection now and the O.D. is 11.44 to 11.42mm and the center hole I.D. is from 3.02mm to 5.05mm depending on who made the shim i guess as long as there is a hole in the center it will work! fuel goes through the center hole. now remember i refering to the old style injectors! i don't have any other's to compare thats why i ask?

Oops, looks like I did my measurements in inches but put mm. The shim hole is about 2.1 mm, small shim outer is about 7.2mm, large outer is 10.15mm

I don't think the size of the hole probably matters much (as long as there is one to let diesel back thru the return line) but the outer diameter is pretty critical for all three shims (two in the AAZ and one in the "normal") since in all 3 cases the shim fits is a pocket machined into the top injector half.
Does anyone know for sure that rounding up a standard set of TD hardlines is all that's needed to convert an AAZ engine back to "normal" injectors ??
Oh and more to the subject at hand... is there a list of of how much money (including shipping) we should each be contributing to this shim buy ??! Don't want anyone to be out of pocket.....
