over here they don't take fraud too lightly...  you could always call the right police service directly.  where abouts does he live again? i could direct you to the police service for his area.

Well, by whatever means possibly. I would like any help I can get. He has until the 20th to respond to paypal regarding my claim...otherwise, it will be decided in my favor.
I still want to go after him for the fraudulent activity, etc. Especially when he says he has shipped something...hasn't...the time delay....lack of communication...and did i mention the fact that at the moment he has my money?

My part in this is in the sum of 253.90 CAD (about 250.00 US when it occurred)

jtanguay...I would appreciate any direction you can give to the police service in his area. I haven't found detailed information on his address...only what I was able to pull from his phone number.

Essex County, ON is where he claims his location is on here.
I can give you the cell phone stuff later...that I found through reverse phone...but that could be his "service" alone is based from that area.

I don't want to get into alot of money "paying" a detective. If i remember correctly, there is also a US phone number for deals like this online, like internet fraud, problem, etc. that I may research as well. After, I don't want him to be able to attempt to sell again....this is just insance and really dissappointing on the boards here.

250$ ishhh... I did not think that it was as much, 90-100$,  arf......!!!

I wish you a success with paypal to recover your money, if not, even if you call the police at his place, it is not the police which will refund you your money, at this point It's hard to recover the money.

The last summer, I lost 379eur with a rubber on Ebay, I recovered anything, the guy succeeded in being played with paypal, now, its paypal and ebay account is closed and its phone number is changed, I lost my money, I am really disappointed.

From the other forums he was on, he had his location as Windsor.

I'm a VW tech in Windsor Ontario whose been charged with doing work on a customers 72 914 1.7l. the car came in with a sloppy shifter, that had worn out busings as well as missing parts. After rebuilding the whole assembly(in car and underneath) and locating neutral on the transmission, I've got some of the gears, but not all. With time costing money and me trying to keep his costs reasonable, what is the correct procedure to adjust the linkage. A Porsche Tech at Pfaff Porsche got me in the ball park, but I want it closer. http://www.police.windsor.on.ca/Our%20Organization_new/org%20info/contact_us.htm

(519) 258-6111

mailto:[email protected]

if the admins could grab his logged IP address, the police could do an ISP check to find his contact info that way, otherwise it could be done through PayPal.  give them his account info and that should suffice.

they will obtain his info and get a hold of him.  depending on past experiences with the law they might charge him unless he can resolve this by giving all of your money back.

Thank You for that information and I will indeed use it. I am going to contact the mods about his IP as well as a IP block too. I am going to attempt to contact the other forums he is a part of as well...given the circumstances.
As far as getting my money...I will indeed do that...and it will be through paypal as I paid using c.c. and already have a chargeback that will be processed. My claim is nearing its "end time" of 20 days to which Slyvester has not responded and obviously is going to end up hurting for this.

I just want my money and protect other buyers from this type of activity...just muddies the forums and aren't fair.

Worst of all, most of what I bought from him was odds, ends, CAN specific B3 parts that I wanted to do the mTDI project in the B3. Now, I'll have to go about finding them all again. First though...I want my money back as the project doesn't even appeal to me at the moment with all of this.

I wish you the best of luck Joe. I can't give out the IP address, you need to talk to Marc about that. Might be a confidentiality issue.

If you give me a shopping list I can get stuff as I see it in JYs. I've seen a few TD passats there.

maybe should go through the right channels.  let the police ask for the IP address   that way there's no question as to where the IP came from.

Yeap, that'll be the course of action... I'm going to look into the internet fraud division that I was talking about this weekend and pursue things through there along with his local authorities given the information that I have. Maybe something will come out of it...maybe not.

I know I will have to talk to Marc on the IP...I really don't care about having it myself...I think for the forums sake that an IP block would be appropriate if it can be managed. That way he can't come back, change is name, etc. and the circle....vicious circle starts all over again.

I would be willing to give you the parts list....namely, it was some AAZ b3 specific parts to make my swap as "factory looking" as possible when I put the mTDI in the car...but I have kinda lost steam on it over this...
They include...

AAZ b3 airbox and intake tube to turbo
AAZ b3 cluster w/ tach
AAZ engine wiring harness...makes it easier and more stock looking I think as I can pull the entire motronic engine portion and just sell it...
AAZ b3 fuel filter mount.
The CAN spec and euro spec only under dash cubbies instead of the kneebar we have in the US was an added item.
AAZ camshaft (for the MK1's mTDI motor actually...I'd like to play for it before I soak 300+ into a "aftermarket" cam) Consider power vs. money invested tradeoff
10 or 11mm pump head.

I believe that is about it. I'd have to look at the list...

However....the quest continues to get my money back (20th paypal claim closes) and make sure this guy can't do this on other forums...makes me wonder what kind of diesel mechanic he is.

Joe

You might be setting yourself up for a letdown by thinking paypal will get your money back. If they decide in your favour they will only award you what he has as "cash" in his paypal account. They are not a credit card company so they can't take it from his credit card.

The only ones that can do this is your credit card company. This is why i've said this many times threwout this thread.

(call YOUR credit card company directly) You just need to give them the transaction # that you will find on your cc statement.

I know first hand how the paypal claim process work as it happened to me. When they decided in my favour they told me they could only give mr $6.50 back out of $125 as thats all the seller had in his account. I didn't even respond back to paypal. Picked up the phone called my cc company told them i never received what i paid for. Easy call for them 10 business days later i got the full $125 charged back.

I did the exact same thing with Sylvester in December. I paid him threw paypal but with a cc. I didn't even file a claim with paypal. Picked up the phone and called mastercard. Took them 3 weeks to process the chargeback. I got the $150 i sent Sly back.

On another note i wonder how many times he has read these 2 threads.

Mods can you tell us if he has created a new username from the IP that MK2fanatic was registered under.

I bet he will create a new username and keep on scamming on this board.

i think the problem with going that route is that paypal freezes your account since they are the ones held accountable for the transaction

His email is...  [email protected]

As for paypal...i am not concerned there as I believe you are missing a big piece. I did pay through paypal..yes...but I have PAYPAL buyer credit (not the standing balance in your regular paypal acct.), it is an actual credit account done through GE credit services and entitles me to the same protection and converage as a regular credit card. I should be ok and have already call GE credit services regarding a chargeback.

If he is reading...let him read. He knows what he has done...has to live with his discredidation and the additional places that I intend to pursue this. Not of great moral character I'd assume too to just let things go unanswered, not even attempt to rectify and then there is that fact about lying about shipping things. Go ahead.
Rest assured, I will be very cautious in the future regarding the forums and "who" I am buying from. I've never had a situation go down quite like this ones. Just tells a bit more about the person on the other end.

and yes...to be honest...I am a little "down" about the project as that is easily 250.00 missing from the equation. Hopefully that'll be rectified in the next 10 days.

Let me know if you need more info.
