How much difference does it make?
Is it worth the swap?
I'm going to renewing a few things on the 1.6td and I have a 1.8 intake from a JH laying around.
you need to flip the exhaust manifold to make it fit.
The benefits are less cylinder bias (#2 and #3) get a lot more air then #1 and #4
This is assuming you have a TD, it it's NA there is no gains that I'm aware of

Well I do have a 1.6td.
So #2 and #3 get more air than 1 and 4?
Is that even beneficial for my diesel? :?:
It's a lot of work. You'll need a new custom down pipe as well as oil feed and drain line. Plus the turbo needs to be clocked (rotated)
For stock power it's not worth it IMO
I used an intake off a digifant Fox 1.7L, and had i not been using an aftermarket exhaust manifold, (designed for a gasser) and a different turbo, i would have just stuck with the stock intake. Like burn_your_money said, it's alot of work unless you're going for big power, which in that case one of Dave's PP manifolds would be awesome! I don't think they require the mods a gasser one does to install either.
If your still using the stock o2o transmission you won't be able to make a really good downpipe with the stock manifold and turbo flipped upside down because the shift linkage is in the way. There are other options
Well, I am shooting for around 110whp so the question is..Do I need a gasser intake to make numbers like that?

Where would I find one of these Dave's PP manifolds?

you can make 110 whp with extra fueling, big intercooler and more boost. a larger downpipe would go a long way for the longetivity of the motor.
a better intake manifold will equalize the pressure and help keep your HG from blowing. pulsed exhaust manifold will do the same, help your turbo spool better, and equalize the exhaust backpressure which can also lead to blown hg's etc.

Look up?
Oh, I see

So, Dave's manifold would be choice then for longetivity and reliability?
How much does one of Dave's manifolds go for?
