You can buy inline fuses, called maxi fuse, in a 50 amp rating. They have a time delay as well. That's what I'm running on my Taurus fan that has a 100A draw at startup.

OK, worked on it bit last night..... I think I will go with the solenoid under the hood until I have time to rip into things and find out what happened to some wires, specifically the ground and the 12v to the stop solenoid.

I went to Dad's (where the car was) and we couldn't find the spare solenoid we both know he had. So, I went with the set up I described yesterday until I get some parts (solenoid, in line fuse etc). I needed the car, so had to go with a lot of juice through a switch. Cold start this morning....a few degrees above freezing. Held button in for about 12 seconds and it didn't get hot and fired right up so glow plugs are working fine.

I think I'll try to hook up a light on the dash when i do the solenoid so I know when the GPs are on. Anyone have any suggestions? I was just going to run a wire from the GP side of the solenoid to a light on the dash (or somewhere) and then to ground.

I ran a lead off the first (easy to get at) glowplug, back to the dash. That's when I realized that the AAZ glowplugs stay on for 2 minutes!

yep they stay on a little while after the engine has been running. to try and reduce emissions. must really take a beating though :lol:
