AAZ Crankcase vent

Would anyone have pics of the bottom of the vent that comes up and attaches to the valve cover vent? Is it simply a plate that I could make out of steel? I want to use braided stainless lines for the vents, but need details (mine is laid up for the winter and is 4 hours away......sigh)

The AAZ style is better as it is a 2 piece - Ive never had a problem with it, but the one on my TDI is in need of repair.

Can't you just use a block off plate like the 1.6td has?

Thanks. I was just wondering if there's a reason that the pipe elbow on the plate is 70 degrees and not 90 degrees. Does it have to clear some obstruction or is it just so it will fit on the pipe easier???

Where do you get your attachment to the block from Andrew? Early 1.5s? and 1.6s?

It's quite close to the oil filter flange and snakes thru the maze of coolant hoses as they go between the water pump, the oil cooler, and the metal line to the heater core.

I'll snap another picture of the flange bolted to the block tonight.

The flange has an o-ring against the block, and the union has an o-ring as well.

ok cool will oil leak everywhere when i remove it or only with engine running also mine is the single piece one any ideas where i can get the 2 piece in uk without dealer prices?

Note that this engine has no head on it, so the upper coolant hose is not quite at the actual angle.


You might find, being plastic, that it's a cheap part to buy and then you have a real prototype in your hands.

On the other hand, yesterday just for yucks I asked the dealer what a 12 buck (from Worldpac) shift relay shaft was worth... he quoted me $170.
