Hi all, I just got my 1.6TD golf on the road and during the swap i installed a clear return line from the injectors to the pump and there seems to be some air trapped in there. It starts and runs totally fine so i was just wondering if this is a problem or should i just leave it. On a side note, theres very little fuel coming out of the injectors and up the return, but i have no idea how much should. Thoughts? Thanks

I run clear on everything and i notice the same and it's normal I haven't had no problems! I just mainly watch the in line from the filter for bubbles thats where you don't want excessive bubbles! a couple is normal! i guess in there? but no more!

how much air are we talking? i've noticed the odd bubble, but a lot of bubbles = bad.  usually when you rev the car hard you will see a lot of bubbles unless the pump is brand new/fresh rebuilt with a new feed pump installed.

Its not like there are bubbles continuously coming out of the injectors but there was air in the system due to the fact that I swapped the engine and replaced fuel lines and filter etc. so theres really just one big bubble in the high point of the line. Like I say, it doesnt really seem to affect how the car runs. I spose I could get the air out if I unhooked the  line and filled it up with diesel...just dont know if it really matters.

yea that sounds fine to me.  those cheap filters do the same thing... holds a small pocket of air.  as long as the fuel sucked is replaced by the exact same amount of fuel, there will be no real vacuum on the air, and so it can just stay there... if not it would have already been purged out, and may do so in the future if there was ever a large flow of fuel through the line.

my car is running a bit rough right now and i think it is my fuel return lines.  i see lots of leakage around them :(  i need to find a good alternative!
