This is my current collection of parts

Plus the random items I've been storing for my truck, but they don't count. I just sold 1 complete engine, 2 block/head combos and one block this weekend. I'm running low for once  :?

How is that Jetta that I was going to pick up? Do you feel it's a good buy?

Some guy picked up that rear beam last night and is a good old fashioned dubber. He said I can use his large garage for repairing my car so I think I'll be doing that.

I need to stop running synthetic. This is the third batch of fresh (less then 500km) oil that I've had to throw out.

I'm debating a new plan. I have a completely rebuild TD head in my garage that I was going to use on my Caddy but I'm tossing around the idea of a TDI (possibly m). So I could drop that head on instead with the metal HG, and I could use this as an opportunity to install my EGT probe.

Now the problem is I'm thinking I may as well tear apart the bottom end while I'm in there, but that seems a little over zealous.

What's the best way to clean a head that is drenched in assembly oil?

you could bathe the head in diesel fuel or just use brake clean :D

if you decide to scrap it i could buy that oil off you, so long as i know before this weekend.
personally though id throw a new head gasket in and drive it. you may as well get some use out of it before its parted.

Yeah I'm going to keep it. I cleaned up an intake manifold and I'll be installing my EGT probe. I'm planning to do the valve seals while I'm at it
