Tools reqired to pull head and turbo off engine?
« on: May 30, 2004, 12:17:28 am »
I know this sounds stupid, But I have a car parked somewhere and I can't move it  (no tags). I am planning on pulling the turbo, head, and Inj Pump and junking the car.  I have access to tools, and I am mechanically inclined, and I have a factory repair manual. BUT the book does not tell you exactly what tools you need for a particular job other than the VW tools listed.

I will need to transport all the tools I will need accross town 30 miles, and do the job in my back yard.

Does anyone have a list of the socket sizes, description of wrenches etc. that I might need to do this job. Pulling the head, manifolds, and Inj, pump. The exast is already gone, so the turbo can just come out.

I can always run to autoparts place and buy them in a pinch, But I would rather have everything I need ready to go, and get it done fast without interuption.

Thanks.

Get the whole engine. Just the little oil squirt jets under the pistons sell for $30/pc. The turbo block, crank and pistons are all special on turbo engines. I hate to see it go to the furnace.  :(

Thanks.. I had thought of that. It might be easier to just pull the motor anyway.

Since you're in Ohio can't you get a 30 day tag for $10.50 and drive it the 30 minutes across town. Then you could disassemble it there with your tools. I'd say for $11 it's worth not having the interruptions.

do you have any pics of the car?
