hmm.. i wonder if the guage is reading bad or i am just not getting that high.

when i bought the car it had a line already run and ready for a boost guage. my buddy won a boost guage off of dubmodder a while back and gave it to me for a case of beer. i just decided to put the line into the guage and it seems i can only hit 8psi.

any easy way to dial up the boost without going and buying a boost controller?

does your car smoke a lot? you can increase the boost fueling by taking off the top of the LDA and the bin and turn the starwheel i think its clockwise? make note of the clicks so you can return it to normal if you like.  i would try about 5 clicks.

it does smoke quite a bit. compared to an identical jetta. previous owner did something to it but i don't know what. but under heavy throttle i can put out a nice little cloud :P

i think that my starwheel is messed anyways. i have no idea where stock is because previous owner was in there most likely as well as myself. i returned it to what i found it at but i'm not sure about what previous owner did. maybe giles can do some magic when i get some spare money.

Remember the blow off valve will open if you try to raise the boost,it will need sealing shut    i hit 22 psi with a garrett T2 in a 1991 sb jetta TD

I took the valve off, cleaned it and filled it with silicone and pushed a plastic bolt into it with a big head and let it set,put a bit more silicone on top then put it back onto the manifold, you will see when its removed

Given the accuracy of the average automotive gauge and the average wastegate I think you're fine... the Bentley says 9psi is average for a 1.6l .
