Low oil pressure ?!?!?!?!
« on: November 01, 2007, 05:39:37 pm »
I recently rebuilt our 1.6TD. All new bearings including intermediates. I checked the oil pump and lash was still within spec. While the engine was apart I added a VDO oil pressure gauge. I have the the VDO sender and the stock high pressure oil sensor on a tee and extension tube. I am running 10w30 diesel oil for the break-in.

I am getting the oil buzzer coming on if I go over ~2200 rpm. It turns off if I blip the throttle but comes on again if I go over ~2200 rpm again. The VDO gauge barely shows 10 psi at any rpm.

I took the VDO sender off and cranked the engine and oil spurted out. The head is getting oil too.

Any idea what is going on? Could the oil be causing such low readings? Anything else I could check? The senders are well grounded.

hmmmm tinner oil flowing more, but building less pressure perhaps?
