Is the mk2 1.6TD a direct drop in? Any modifications to the body, etc? Thanks.
The engine mounts are different between the two but not much else. If you have all the mounts from the MK 1 the should be good.
you will need a mk1 diesel style engine mount that has the ip bracket on it as well.
downpipe may need some attention around the shift linkage i had to grind off a small part of the flange to get 2nd and 4th
also all the coolant sensors/flanges are different as well. Just swap on NA ones from a mk1.
The air box will give you troubles and you will probably have to move the fuel filter.
the parts snags for me were:
- mkI TD downpipe (bought a 2.5" one from passenger performance)
- mkI TD airbox (got one from burn your money)
another thing to consider is fuel filter location. proper spot for mkI TD is right by the downpipe with a heat shield but i did not use that location.
Thanks for the info. Exactly what I needed.
