1.6 D Oil pressure/pump problem?
« Reply #15 on: October 08, 2007, 04:27:14 pm »
Not saying that everything is fine in the sender units area, but prior to replacing them, we could get the oil light to come on at random times. While cruzin' down the freeway, or stopped at idle, flickering sometimes... random all the way. Replaced both and they behave normally. Low oil, they come on. They stay off until the oil pressure drops to 25 lbs, then buzzer and light. I'm wondering if that, the low oil pressure, is what it's reading and reacting normally... as designed. This motor has close to 300K on it.

oil press woes

I did the replace oil pump routine last year & it temporarily cured the low oil pressure. but sooner or later I expect the intermediate shaft bearings will have to be done, the rest of the bearings looked ok. As for manuals the Bentley is the best $44 at amazon.com & worth every penny, pretty much everything else is crap in comparison. Cheers Dan

Did the unhook test you suggested. No buzzer and no oil light.
