FS - 91 Jetta GL 1.6 diesel 4 door - German build

So, we have a 1991 Jetta GL 1.6 NA diesel 4 door for sale. German build, LA7U Z3 Pearl Grey metallic with black and grey cloth interior. VIN WVWRG21G8MW380492

237k miles. No leaks, no oil usage, very little smoke even on hard acceleration. Runs well and tracks straight.

No rust I can find underneath or on the wheel arches that I can see from easing them away from the body, I’m not pulling the trim to dig any deeper. Few small dents and dings, nothing major.

Interior is clean and in good condition, lower bolsters aren’t beat, no rips or splits. Upper drivers side outer bolster is a little flat, I have a spare matching upper passenger side seat with excellent bolsters to swap over. Has speakers in the map pockets with OEM speaker grilles that are cracked. I have a source for replacement grilles. Clarion high power CD player with 6 decent speakers. AC and power steering, I think the AC works, but with 52 hp on tap, I don’t use it.

Seatbelts changed from goofy door mount to traditional factory 3 point harness.

Crank windows (bonus points!)

Good tires on upgraded 14” steelies (original wheels were 13” steels, bent, and butt ugly). Two spare wheels of the same design come with it.

Receipts for close to $1300 worth of service/OEM parts in the past 3 months, including:
Timing belt
Tensioner
Water pump (German)
Thermostat
V drive belts
Thermoswitch
Pump timing set
Intermediate shaft seal and O ring
Air filter
New pass side drive axle assembly
Coolant reservoir
Fuel filter
Two front wheel bearings and ball joints

Recent complete new exhaust
Recent battery
Recent oil/filter change, used Rotella 5w40 synthetic like I do on all diesels. I think I used a Wix or Mann filter, no Fram crap.

History of receipts for motor mount and other past services included along with original owners manuals. Got the build sheet, too!

What it needs:

Heater core. I bypassed it temporarily a week ago, not causing any problems, car didn’t overheat and it didn’t flood the floor.

Correct O ring under the preheater on the filter. I have a tiny diesel leak there.

What would be nice:
Clean up the front end. Previous owner hit a deer and swapped the core with another grey car he had for parts and painted the hood himself. It’s not pretty up close but not terrible from a distance, sounds like a closing time problem to me. It couldn’t have been much of a hit because it didn’t bother the inner fender wall to core mounting points at all. I was planning on changing the aero front end to quad rounds anyway. I have a core and grille and a very straight hood that goes with it. Scare up a better big front bumper and you’re ready to go.
Get the correct intake hose, I made one that is functional and not horrid looking but I’d get the right one from a yard and swap it out.
Get some beauty rings and caps for the steelies to dress her up a little. I have some caps that don’t fit.
Swap out the rear struts. They are not good and approaching bad. I have some 2000 miles KYB gas struts that go with the car.

Asking $2500
