Engine Electronics Fuse Blowing...
« on: September 05, 2007, 10:45:37 am »
I think I figured out the fuel issues. Now I am on to hopefully the last issue (which started just tonight), with this car.

If I rev the car up around 3Kish and let the RPMs fall (or change gears) the car's RPMs will drop and just die. This causes the "Engine Electronics" Fuse to blow. I can mimic it sometimes with the car at idle. Sometimes while driving it just goes even in first ger at 2500RPM and climbing.

Any ideas?

Car is a 1997 Jetta Diesel 1.9L (AAZ), NON TDI!

I will take a visual look again, but didnt see much out of the ordinary last night.  Is there a foolproof way to find out?

Thanks,
John

Anyone?

maybe you have a bad ground somewhere in the engine and all the movement by the high revving engine or shifting gears causes the ground to short. Need to find everything that is connected to that fuse, check all connections and grounds. There is never really a fool proof way to fix electrical, gotta go through it one wire at a time. I have had bad connectors in my engine bay so take the plug and give the wires a slight tug and if they are corroded in the connector they will pull apart.

Yeah, thats what I gotta do :(  I knew VWs were bad for electrical, but I figured I could get awy from it a bit LOL....

Drove the car 60-70kms last night... no issues.  The night before... 7 fuses in 3 blocks! LOL
